    Sustainability

The Tour de Chocolate is committed to improving the well-being of the local community through various initiatives: supporting English courses for community youth, improving road work within the cocoa communities, increasing the support of medical teams to benefit community members, funding a site for the association of women in Yabón, and contributing funds for the construction of a children’s playground in the community. The Tour de Chocolate is a social and community project, with 70% of the proceeds staying in the community to cover salaries and funding for the associations’ development projects.
At the present time, the Tour de Chocolate is working on a project that will give both community and visitors an opportunity to plant trees in areas that have no forests. Community training workshops are being planned, which will cover issues such as solid waste management, conservation of water sources, and erosion reduction.
