Where social consciousness and environmental responsibility meet in a celebration of Afro Caribbean culture.

Rancho Ecologico El Campeche is a wilderness lover’s paradise home to a wide range of camping facilities, rustic lodging and activities aimed at bringing you close to the quiet calm of nature. At El Campeche we invite you to stroll though the rolling hills that surround our camp, relax by the pool under dazzling skies or take part in a variety of activities that we offer for the entire family.

El Campeche boasts a number of exhibits that showcase the typical agricultural products and fauna found through out the region in addition to hiking, horseback riding or wilderness exploration excursions.

Rancho Ecologico El Campeche is firmly committed to responsible tourism and we try to incorporate both natural and cultural elements in all of our activities. Our organization is committed to integrating the socio-cultural, natural, economic aspects of the region in a way that maximizes benefits of tourism while minimizing the negative effects. We encourage all of our visitors to learn more about our efforts when they come stay with us.

    How to Get There

By Taxi: from Santo Domingo, take a taxi to the community of Limón de Deveaux and in about three minutes, you will be at the entrance to the Campeche Ranch. Cost is approximately USD$50.

By Car: It is about 40 minutes from Santo Domingo by taking 6 de Noviembre Highway toward Bani, past the town of San Cristobal. Take the detour toward Deveaux, next to the white lime kilns, right after heading toward Yaguate and keep following the road until El Limón.

By Bus: take a bus from Santo Domingo in the Enriquillo Park area, toward Bani and get off at the intersection with Deveaux. There, take a motorcycle taxi to the Campeche Ranch. The buses leave every half hour from 6 AM to 9 PM. Cost is USD$4 per person. The motorcycle taxi is USD$2 per person.

    Sustainability

Deeply committed to the social sustainability of the region, one of our initial projects consists of purchasing land that will serve as a cultural and recreational space for the community, including facilities for a basketball and volleyball court as well as a hobby shop. In addition to recreational areas, we will also have space for cultural activities and educations training in our workshop room and the ‘green’ areas used for the schoolchildren’s recreational time. We hold summer camps for students, for the purpose of donating school supplies, and as a socio-cultural intervention project for all young people.

    Environmental Efforts

At El Campeche we have preserved 24.7 acres of untouched land with the intention to conserve and preserve the endemic species of flora and fauna found in our dry-climate that is laced with trails for visitors only. One of our key practices is to invest 15% of our gains back into the community, while also supporting housing reconstruction initiatives, environmental education processes, and other community initiatives.
